The Beat Goes On

Updated: Jun 21

As you may have heard, BFB have put in an application to vary our Premises License.

This is purely an effort to simplify our operating hours and allow us flexibility to more easily accommodate private and community events.

Our current license grants us permission to trade seven days per week. Some of the hours are off premises and some on premises. But guests can visit and buy beer seven days a week.

So why are we asking for a variance?

Two reasons. First, our hours are a bit confusing. As an example, on a Thursday you may buy beer for takeaway from 11 am until 4 pm but cannot enjoy a beer in the tasting room until after 4 pm. Second, a fair portion of our business relies on private parties and community events. These could be on a Wednesday afternoon or a Friday evening until 10 pm. Each time we vary by day or by time we must apply for a Temporary Event Notice (TEN). And so we have.

These hours are nothing new. They have been an important part of our business from the beginning. We have opened for fundraisers, board meetings, private parties, club gatherings, group runs, brewery tours, and various community events. We operate quietly and our guests behave with courtesy and responsibility. Unless you were with us for one of these functions, you probably did not know we were open.

For now, Thursday to Sunday will be our normal trading days. But in future we may decide that another day or a different time would be beneficial for business. Or we may decide to reduce hours (in winter for example),

So, nothing really changes. Through this application we simplify our hours, operate with added flexibility, and are able to say yes to more private functions.

Thank you for your continued support. We hope to see you soon at Haydown Farm.
